Ten Thousand Villages is a non-profit program of Mennonite Central Committee (MCC), the relief and development agency of Mennonite and Brethren in Christ churches in North America. Ten Thousand Villages has its roots in the work begun by Edna Ruth Byler in 1946.   Ten Thousand Villages creates opportunities for artisans in developing countries to earn income by bringing their products and stories to our markets through long-term, fair trading relationships.

This fall, Ten Thousand Villages will be celebrating 65 years of Fair Trade in North America and our local Ten Thousand Villages store will be celebrating 35 years of Fair Trade in Lethbridge and Southern Alberta.

We will be celebrating these two milestones Monday, September 26th to Saturday, October 1st.  On Thursday, September 29th at 7:00 pm we are hosting a special evening gala at our store (329 5th St. S, Lethbridge, AB), where we will be acknowledging and thanking those from our community who have supported this organization throughout the years.  This evening celebration will include community dignitaries, reminiscing, memorabilia and socializing over refreshments.   Please RSVP.

On Saturday, October 1st we will celebrating all day with in-store displays, music, games, draws, a demo by a local woodworker and refreshments!

Give to this and other projects through the Christian Reformed World Missions Project Giving Guide at www.crwm.org/projects.
