Movie night.  Come and enjoy a family movie night on Thursday, November 10 at 7pm.  We will be watching "Facing the Giants" and popcorn and refreshments will be provided.  There will be some Veggie Tales movies for the kids downstairs.

Seafarers Ministry - With the Christmas at Sea project, the Ministry to Seafarers hopes to show the love of God in a small, but tangible way to these sailors, pointing to the true gift of Christmas, Jesus Christ, in whose name these gifts are presented. Of course, it is only with your faithful support that this project is possible for the Christmas season. So, why not become a partner in the Ministry to Seafarers’ Christmas at Sea.  This year again, due to high postage rates, we will just be sending money.  There will be box in in the foyer until Nov 20th where you can put your donations.  Thank you

Bible Studies - Two Bible studies will be offered this fall and will be starting in the next few weeks.  The two options are:

- The Power of Love - Building Relationships that work - Focus on the Family - shows how to enrich and enjoy the bond between your child and yourself. You'll also discover that when it comes to passing along your faith and values, a good relationship with your son or daughter is the sharpest tool in every parent's toolbox.

- Go Fish - by Andy Stanley - offers a new perception of the word "evangelism" by showing how believers can make it natural, easy part of everyday life.

Please check them out and sign up in the foyer.  The times offered will be decided by the people who sign up.  Any Questions talk to Marcel Busz

The Annual CRC Reformation Worship Service will be held on Sunday, October 30th, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at Trinity Reformed Church.   Guest minister is Rev. Bob De Moor, editor of the Banner and pastor of preaching and administration for West Edmonton CRC.  The offering this year is designated for CRWRC Disaster Response Services.   Anyone desiring to make a donation by cheque for tax purposes is welcome to do so.  However, it is imperative  that cheques be issued for the designated cause.  The Committee will forward all cheques directly to CRWRC who will issue the tax receipts.

Also, a nursery will be available for families with young children

With the combined Reformation Day Service scheduled for 3 PM, October 30 at the Trinity United Reformed Church, the organizing committee is pleased to once again provide you some glimpses into the historical event we know as the Protestant Reformation. The theme of this year's vignettes is "Secondary Players of the Reformation."

MAJOR PLAYERS OF THE REFORMATION ERA

John Hus  -  It’s interesting to look into what was happening on the church scene in the centuries before the Reformation. During these “high middle ages,” figures such as John  Wycliffe and the Czech, John Hus, were bold to challenge established views of the church and its beliefs. Hus was influenced by Wycliffe’s attacks on the monastic and sacramental systems and himself spoke strongly against the sale of indulgences. These made gullible churchgoers believe  that they were inheriting good works from a “treasury of merits,” a storehouse of the good works of Jesus and the saints, and thereby merited salvation. The money raised was used to finance  pet projects of the reigning pope.  Hus is remembered mainly for insisting that Christ and not the pope was the Head of the Church. He was burned at the stake in 1415.

ULRICH ZWINGLI – Zwingli, born just seven weeks after the birth of Martin Luther, was perhaps the most eloquent voice against the wrongs in the contemporary church.  Influenced by Erasmus, he wrote fables in which he accused the pope as supporting social evils such as corruption in the pension system and the trafficking in Swiss soldiers.  He emphasized that Christ was the sole mediator between God and humanity and charged the Pope with usurping Jesus’ role.  In his work as a parish priest he showed exceptional ability in explaining the Bible in a direct manner and in his preaching condemned church abuses such as the sale of indulgences.  Zwingli was an avid follower of Martin Luther.
