REFORMATION DAY
Hello, everyone. We just received the sad news that Dr. Neal Plantinge has become seriously ill (carotid arteries 70 % blocked), and will not be able to speak for us and spend time with us this weekend. Fortunately and graciously, Rev. Scott Hoezee, of the Center for Excellence in Preaching, has agreed to stand in for Neal, including the Saturday lunch. Pertinent details have been exchanged, and we should be in good shape to proceed. Please hold Neal in your prayers, as his condition is serious.
Thank you, Andrew Joosse
BUILDING PROJECT
-Brincon Construction has formed and poured foundations, installed weeping tile, etc -After a period of time in a controlled environment, the foundation concrete samples have not cured to the MPA rating required for a given period of time (Brincon/BCB Engineering/AMEC Earth and Environment-Lethbridge)
-Since that time we have had multiple core tests performed at different times to see if concrete strength has improved as it cured (AMEC/BCB Engineering)
-To date they have not officially approved the quality of concrete in our foundations (MPA rating not high enough yet)
-We will update results and action plans soon (good or bad)
-Westco Construction of Lethbridge is actively working on and preparing steel super structure-have begun manufacturing required steel
-When all of the completed and “engineered” plans are back to the building committee, we will display again for all to see
-Any members willing to donate time, equipment, or cover any direct costs (future supplier invoices or materials) please contact any member of the building committee.
Building committee members are: Henry K., Rob K., Tim H., Luke H., Mike F., Henk P.

Reformation Day:
In the aftermath of the Reformation there emerged, as is typical of such events, a number of radical movements. One of these came to be called Anabaptism, opposed to infant baptism. Some of the Anabaptist, not all, insisted that Christians baptized as infants be re-baptized, a leader among these being Conrad Grebel, leader of the Swiss Brethren. As the movement spread northwest, it was organized in Holland by Menno Simons into the movement known as Mennonites. Another figure in the Anabaptist movement was Jacob Huter who promoted a kind of Christian communism. It is to the credit of Menno Simons that under his leadership Anabaptism gained respectability. He attempted to establish congregations patterned after the church of the apostles, teaching that true faith leads one in the way of Jesus, that baptism does not confer grace, and that service in the state and in war, and the giving of oaths are contrary to Scripture.
