OUR CHURCH FAMILY

Belated birthday wishes are extended to Mr. Klass TenHave who celebrated his 80th birthday this past Friday, March 5. (My apologies that this missed last weeks bulletin! SK)

Birthday wishes are extended to Mrs. Corrie Heins, and to Mr. Andy Feenstra who celebrate their birthdays, today, March 7.

This week has more birthdays in it: Congratulations to Mr. Nick Wever who celebrates his 75th birthday, Wednesday, March 10, Mrs. Rickie Biesheuvel who celebrates her 80th birthday, Thursday, March 11, and to Mr. Anno Slomp who celebrates his on Saturday, March 13.! Congratulations to all of you and may God bless you as you celebrate your birthdays with family and friends.

Thank-you & a huge appreciation for the prayers and meals during Samantha's illness. There is a lot less pain now, but little energy. Being able to handle a small % of her normal threshold is challenging. Some tests came back negative recently. More tests to come. Looks less like an autoimmune disease. We are still waiting for a specialist in Calgary for the pain/ inflammation/ swelling end of things & another Orthopedic Surgeon for knees in mid-April. So far: Osteoarthritis, Severe Fibromyalgia & Raynaud's Phenomenon has been diagnosed. Some symptoms don't fit any of these so further investigation is being done. Your compassion and prayers are our best medicine as the emotional part of this illness has been the biggest struggle for us so far this past 6 months. Damon & Samantha P

The Congregation is invited to a Come-and-Go Tea in honor of Bob & Rickie Biesheuvel’s 80 birthdays. It will be held at the Granum CRC Fellowship Hall on Saturday, March 13, 1:30-5:00 P.M. Your presence is our present. Bob & Rickie B

The congregation is invited to an Open House to celebrate the 25th Wedding Anniversary of Charlie and Lisa Wever and the 75th Birthday of Nick Wever. Lord willing, the celebration will take place Sunday March 14 from 3-5 pm. at the Maranatha CRC Fellowship Hall.

There will be sign up sheets at the back of church for help with set up, clean up, serving food, washing dishes etc. We are asking each family to bring a salad or vegetable to generously feed 12-15 adults. Please indicate the time you are able to bring your dishes on the sign up sheet in the back. We are keeping the time honoured tradition of asking Grandmothers to bring 2 homemade pies. Please don’t forget your donation for the auction. Men are encouraged to sign up to help as well!

Putting Love in Action: Every year many Dordt students use their spring break to further the Kingdom of God by serving in various areas of North America. Every service group is made of about ten students. At the site, groups give their energy and services to the ministry centers. Common jobs that groups carry out include: general maintenance, such as cleaning and repairs, assisting building homes, groundwork, homeless missions, and tutoring children.

Both students and ministries benefit from the opportunities PLIA provides. In addition to general help that is needed by the ministries, those involved see young, committed Christians living out their faith. Students benefit by experiencing new cultures and ways of life, gaining fresh knowledge about social problems, acquiring new skills and knowledge, and having an opportunity to put their faith into action. PLIA is an imitation of Christ that challenges students to seek daily means to serve those they interact with. Thank you for your support!

Elizabeth Hummel will be participating in this service project in March 2010. (During Spring Break). In order for this to happen she is requesting financial support from our congregation. Next weeks offering will go to PLIA to help Elizabeth financially with this project.
