ANNOUNCEMENTS

From Council: At the last council meeting, we were given the honor and privilege to hear an account of the faith and beliefs from some of our youth.  Therefore council invites you to hear their declaration of this faith on August 7th.  Joining us as communicant members will be Lindsay Hummel, Kim Pastink,  Dylan Postman, Amelia Slomp, and Elina Van der Kooij.

Attention all youth, children & their parents:   The large basement room (with the concrete flooring) is being used to store the decorating props for VBS until we can put them away. We are asking if you could please refrain from entering that room after church.

LADIES, are you willing to help make a meal for a shut-in or someone in need?  Can you help if a need arises for a luncheon or funeral etc.?  We could use your help.  There will be a sign up sheet (in the near future) for all those willing to help out in this area of ministry.  Thank you for your willingness to help.

FOOD BANK: This week, the food bank is in need of Peanut Butter.   Thank You!

Fairbooth Ministry - The evangelism committee is looking for some volunteers for the fairbooth ministry this year.  Our day is Wednesday, August 24 and we will need four groups of 2 people to man the booth at Whoop Up Days.  Tickets to get in and parking will be paid for. Please contact Marcel Busz or Dirk Vanderkooij if you are interested.

Jamboree Days - The evangelism committee is looking for some volunteers to be the hosts for the Old Church at Jamboree Days in Picture Butte.  We are looking for two groups of 2 to answer questions and be friendly to the visitors.  The date is Aug 20 from 1-3 and 3-5.  Please contact Marcel Busz

GROUNDWORK - The One, Fractured Church: Many critics of the church point out that the “one” church isn’t really one; it’s fractured beyond belief. If that’s true, what does it mean to speak of the unity of the church? Special guest Peter Borgdorff joins the conversation to discuss Ephesians 4 and what it means to confess that the church is “one.” Join the Aug. 7 Groundwork discussion. Find a local radio station or listen online at www.GroundworkOnline.com.

ICHS Senior Choir Cookbook

Big thanks to everyone who has sent in recipes - it's starting to take shape!  The plan is to have the completed cookbooks available before Christmas.   We don't have quite enough to pull together a full book yet, so please keep sending them through the summer months. Please email them to Monica at mmoedt@immanuelcs.ca, or give her a call at (403) 345-4174. Thanks so much for your support - it's going to be a great cookbook!

Sunday School: Thank you to those who volunteered to take the position of Sunday School Superintendant.  Now, we need a few more teachers.  We need two for Sunday School, and one for catechism.  Please prayerfully consider this; and talk to Tom S if you need more information.

The Bits & Bytes Classic - At 9:00AM on Saturday, September 10, 2011, 144 people will be teeing off in an effort to raise funds for computers in our two schools.  The entry fee for this tourney is $125 and includes 18 holes of golf, a power cart, a great gift package, 2 mulligans and an all-you-can-eat smorgasbord meal.  At the tourney we will have special prize competitions on every hole in addition to team and door prizes. Someone could go home with $10,000 in cash!  Register before August 10 and you will be entered to win an early bird prize!  To register in the Bits & Bytes Classic simply contact Sean Alaric at salaric@immanuelcs.ca or phone 403-381-9328 or text or call his cell 403-593-9328 with your name and average score.  You can also contact him if you would like to be a sponsor and improve the technology used by our children.  We have planned this year's tourney to be a rain free event J

Through CFGB, CRWRC is guaranteed a 4:1 CIDA match towards the food aid portion. To donate, call 1-800-730-3490, visit www.crwrc.org/donate, or mail your cheque marked "CRWRC East Africa Drought Response" to: CRWRC, 3475 Mainway, STN LCD 1, Burlington, ON L7R 3Y8.
