OUR CHURCH FAMILY

Please pray for Susan Hummel, sister-in-law to Cobi H who begins chemotherapy on Friday. Susan has been diagnosed with lymphoma in her neck. Thank you. The Hummels

As Pastor Kevin is on vacation the week of Feb 15- 21, any spiritual or related concerns should be brought to the attention of the district elder. Thank you.

Thank you! Sincerest thank you to all for your kind expressions of concern, prayers of assurance and support during my recent eye surgery. Nancy and I enjoyed a safe trip to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. We flew from Calgary to Minneapolis, then to Rochester, MN on January 26 and returned to Calgary at midnight on January 29. Surgery appears successful but requires more time because four muscles were adjusted and now have to realign by themselves. Again, many thanks yous. I love you all. Everet H. Schiebout P.S. look elsewhere in this bulletin for info about the Mayo Clinic

ANNOUNCEMENTSWe are honoured guests this morning at the Lord’s table. The Lord will strengthen our faith with the use of the Sacrament. On this Communion Sunday, we invite our guests to listen carefully as the Form for the Celebration of the Lord’s Supper is read, which explains our understanding of the meaning and significance of the Sacrament. We believe that those who partake of the sacrament should be in good standing of a Christian Church, should profess Jesus Christ as the Lord and Saviour of their lives, should desire the Sacrament as a means of strengthening their faith, and should do so in accordance with the teaching of 1 Corinthians 11: 23 - 29.

Regarding your questions about Mayo: This organization started in approximately 1890 in Rochester, MN, the main clinic, with two others located in Jacksonville, FL and Scottsdale, AZ. The main clinic in Rochester also have their own college for advanced training and medical research located on the same campus. At present, the Mayo staff at Rochester is approximately 39,000 working out of some 26 adjoining buildings in the downtown core of Rochester. The Mayo clinics try to deliver premium health care with the finest doctors, surgeons, and related staff. No Mayo employee has facial hair, ponytails, tatoos, piercings or other visual oddity. The Mayo staff are respected, well-dressed, kind, and always ready to help. In 1910, R. William Mayo stated: "The best interest of the patient is the only interest to be considered." This statement seems to be Mayo's motto. Everet S.

ICS 2010 Worldview Lecture presented by Dr Ron Kuipers,Asst Professor at
ICS.

WHATS SO CRITICAL ABOUT FAITH? EXPLORING A CRITICAL FEATURE OF HUMAN LIFE.
At a time when God is Dead is such a common view in our society,
Christians are more dependant on our faith than ever. Dr. Kuipers will
present an understanding of faith as a form of critical intelligence,
something that we desperately need today. Faith understood in this way
is a source of wisdom and hope; faith that enables us to understand and
respond to the problems of this dynamic and confounding world.
This Lecture will be held at Emmanuel CRC, Calgary, AB on Monday, March
15. Reception 7pm-8pm; Lecture 8pm-9:30 pm.
