ANNOUNCEMENTS
COMMUNION SUNDAY: We are honoured guests this morning at the Lord’s table. The Lord will strengthen our faith with the use of the Sacrament. On this Communion Sunday, we invite our guests to listen carefully as the Form for the Celebration of the Lord’s Supper is read, which explains our understanding of the meaning and significance of the Sacrament. We believe that those who partake of the sacrament should be in good standing of a Christian Church, should profess Jesus Christ as the Lord and Saviour of their lives, should desire the Sacrament as a means of strengthening their faith, and should do so in accordance with the teaching of 1 Corinthians 11: 23 - 29.
THANK YOU!! A big thank you to all those who took part in our Sunday School program this past Friday. Thank you to:
• Those who played music for the prelude
• Sunday School teachers
• Sunday School co-ordinators
• Pianist
• Sound man
• Those who put the goodie bags together for the children
• Those who made the buns and hot chocolate for after the program
• The students who sang with such enthusiasm
• Everyone who came to watch!
FROM THE DEACONS: December the 2010 collection notes will be available. Please use the envelopes that are on top of the mail boxes when purchasing notes. If there is anyone who is unfamiliar with collection notes, like how they work or how to acquire them, please see the deacons in the council room immediately after any church service. If you purchase notes in December, please note if they are for 2009 of 2010. If at all possible, purchase notes as follows (especially for the beginning of the year).
$1 notes x 50= $50
$2 notes x 50= $100
$5 notes x 25= $125
GEMS: Once again our GEMS club will be sponsoring a family in our community. We have chosen a local family who we feel is in need of our love and support during this Christmas season. What an honor and privilege we have to make this Christmas special for them. So we ask that each GEM, if you choose, give a small donation to this cause. Suggested donation is $1-$5 per girl. Please bring your money to GEMS no later than Monday, December 14. If you have any further questions please call Benita, 732-5163. Thank you for being a part of this worthwhile project.
THE GEMS ANNUAL CHRISTMAS PARTY will be on Monday, December 14 beginning after school until 6:15 pm at the church. We will be playing games, making a craft and of course enjoying the traditional supper of spaghetti, sauce and ice cream for dessert. The girls will also have the opportunity to see the gifts purchased for our Adopted Family. We hope that everyone can come to this special time of celebration.
GEMS & CADET BOTTLE DRIVE: Please save your bottles, cans and milk jugs for the GEMS and Cadets. Our annual Bottle Drive is planned for Saturday, January 2, 2010.
ATTENTION ALL GRADE ELEVEN STUDENTS! Next Spring, the week of April 2-9, we are planning our yearly Service Trip. This is an every-year event for Grade eleven students that's been running a number of years now. In the past few years, we've gone to Louisiana and Galveston, Texas to help CRWRC with disaster relief. We're in conversation with them already now to see where they need us this year. So, if you'd like to be able to go on this trip, please work on getting your passports in order. More specific information will be coming in January. As well, we will be looking for Chauffeurs for the group. Construction experience is generally a plus. So please talk to one or two adults in your church to encourage their participation. Cost has not been worked out, but it will likely run somewhere around $1000 per person. If you have questions, please contact Pastor Mike Van Boom at mvanboom@hotmail.com.
LET ME BLESS YOU: This week Dr. David Schuringa interviews Kootama Lindsay who, as one of CBI’s first graduates, has recorded a music CD and oversees a ministry to the inner city poor in Detroit. Go to www.cbi.fm to listen to Crossroad Connection - a restorative justice ministry of Crossroad Bible Institute.
WORLD MISSIONS Summer Mission Program - Go for a summer...be changed forever! Visit www.crwm.org/smp for information about Christian Reformed World Missions' Summer Mission Program 2010. Young adults can learn about cross-cultural ministry with CRWM missionaries and their national ministry partners in Eastern Europe, Asia, Latin America, and Africa. Applications are due Feb. 12. Don’t miss this great opportunity!
CRWRC: Blessed by His Gift and Yours - Jesus' birth was one of the greatest sacrifices of all time. He gave up His place in heaven and became human. This was topped only by His additional sacrifice on the cross. This year, as you celebrate Christ's coming, please consider how you can give sacrificially to share His love with others. To see what impact your gifts can have, visit CRWRC's gift catalog at www.crwrc.org/blessed.
