ANNOUNCEMENTS
We
are honoured guests this morning at the Lord’s table.
The Lord will strengthen our faith with the use of the Sacrament. On this
Communion Sunday, we invite our guests to listen carefully as the Form for the Celebration
of the Lord’s Supper is read, which explains our understanding of the meaning
and significance of the Sacrament. We believe that those who partake of
the sacrament should be in good standing of a Christian Church, should profess
Jesus Christ as the Lord and Saviour of their lives, should desire the
Sacrament as a means of strengthening their faith, and should do so in
accordance with the teaching of 1 Corinthians 11: 23 - 29.
This Friday is the Annual Sunday School Christmas Program. Before the program begins, children will have the opportunity to share their musical talent. If you would like to play your instrument, please talk to Elaine
K as soon as possible.
The Advent wreath is large and circular in shape. The
circle has no beginning or end, reminding us of God’s unending love for us.
It is made of evergreens, which are a sign of life in an otherwise
lifeless winter. They point to new life and the hope of eternal life that
we find in Christ. The five candles contrast darkness and light. They are
lit in succession, one more each week as we count the Sundays in Advent,
waiting for Christ’s birth. We are also reminded of those who waited thousands
of years for the Messiah. On Christmas Day, the fifth candle--the Christ
candle--is lit. Jesus is the light of the world, and the darkness has not put
it out. The full blaze stands for the fulfillment of God’s promise.

December 11, 2011 A field
reporter in Cambodia says, “This is God's time for this country that has
survived decades of civil war, killing fields and political upheaval. Twenty
years ago there were only 50 churches in Cambodia. Today there are over 1000
just in our partner Network! As well, there are another 1000 cell groups that
are on their way to becoming churches, and 900 individuals waiting to be
trained as church planters.” Please pray that this mighty work of God will
continue to spread across Cambodia! www.bibleleague.ca

When we are weak and powerless, God is
there to give us strength.
When we lack wisdom, He will supply it.
When we admit that we cannot heal ourselves, and we fall to our knees and ask
God to take over, we will be on the road to spiritual health.
