PRAYER REQUEST: Pray for T.B.B., a medical student in Algeria, who became a follower of Christ two years ago through Back to God Ministries International Arabic outreach. T. has been witnessing to his family and reports that his father has become very open to the Gospel, but not yet his mother and brother. He asks us to pray that all of his family would accept the truth of Jesus as Savior.
I’M AMAZED: In our busy lives, we seldom really communicate even with people who are important to us. Even though there are many ways to communicate, feelings of loneliness and isolation often intensify. Where did people in the Bible find comfort in their feelings of loneliness? Find out on the Aug. 23 Back to God Hour. Visit BacktoGodradio.net to find a station in your area or listen to a sermon. You can also download our podcast. No station in your area? Can’t listen on line? Call or email to request a CD to be sent to you.
LEAVING HOME FOR UNIVERSITY? If you or someone you know is attending a public university this fall, the Christian Reformed Campus Ministry would like to know! Send us your name, address, and which university will be attended, and we will forward this information to the CRC campus ministry at that university. Or, contact them directly yourself! See our directory of ministries at www.crcma.com. Let’s keep the covenant alive! Our campus ministries nurture discipleship that includes mentoring, fellowship, social justice work and spiritual growth. For details or to send contact info, please email Rev. Brian Bork at waterloocampusministry@gmail.com.
India Persecution Alert - Urgent Prayer Request!!
On Tuesday, a group of 80 ministry partners in the state of Karnataka were gathered for a Children’s Bible Club training session. A mob of Hindu extremists burst into the building, accusing the group of planning to coerce children into becoming Christians. The attackers beat up two partners, burned Bibles, and terrified the participants. A local pastor who rushed to the scene was also badly beaten. Police arrested 8 of the Christians. Eyewitnesses say the attackers vowed publicly to fight back against what they see as a "dangerous" increase in the number of Christians in the area. There may be just a handful of Christians today, but as the extremists clearly fear, believers are eagerly sharing the Gospel. Please pray that the tension in this community will ease and that local Christians will not experience continued threats. Pray especially for the ministry workers who are still in jail as this is written. They risk being beaten because of their faith in Jesus. Pray that the training will be rescheduled soon so that the children will have the chance to hear about Jesus. For more information, visit www.bibleleague.ca.
